mrDSP - Armchair Intelligentsia/Dancefloor SuperheroesmrDSP - Armchair Intelligentsia/Dancefloor Superheroes
$11.97

Act I: The stage is set. The players are assembled. For three days they perform together. Ad lib. No script. Intriguing and astonishing moments are captured as they weave through a variety of scenes and styles. Hours and hours of footage are captured and cataloged.

Act II: The enormous amount of footage is given to the players. They individually retreat to various dark corners of the globe and begin again. This time analyzing and critiquing. Singling out every individual captivating moment. Removing these moments from context and allowing them to simmer. These moments permeate through one another in different and extraordinary ways. After two weeks of reinterpretation, new compositions begin to expand and grow from the original pieces.

Act III: The players reconvene. A new stage is set. This time it is broadcast to the people. The new compositions are brought forth. Final bits of magic are infused as vignettes are born from developing these pieces into a new whole. This new level of expanded performance has created something far more powerful than any of the individual parts. This is the sound of mrDSP.

Vocé - ShmooveVocé - Shmoove
$11.97

The azure seas of the Mediterranean and the excitement of Monaco were great catalysts to bringing Vocé into being. A casual conversation about new musical directions quickly evolved into agreement that a new, fresh sound was needed in the world of smooth and fusion jazz.

Since returning to the US and getting into the studio to capture that sound, Vocé has emerged as a live instrumental act that blurs the boundaries between jazz, soul, hip-hop, electronic and folk music to bring great music to their fans.

The four cats –– "Los Cuatro Gatos" –– who are Vocé have honed their respective pieces of the Voce sound over years of playing all around the world: from major festivals to Broadway, from Asia to Europe and all over the US. Musically, Vocé members have played everything from straight ahead blues, rock and roll and jazz to funk, dance music and gospel. All of this comes to the smooth groove that is "Shmoove."

Versatility and talent come through loud and clear on "Shmoove" and in everything these guys play. Seth Blumberg plays the earthy natural acoustic guitar as well as the driving electric rock licks. Kevin Cooper sets the stage with his funky bass lines as well as punctuating several songs on the steel drums. Leo Dombecki’s keyboards and synthesizers work seamlessly with his tenor saxophone riffs. Alto and soprano sax and flute from Ryan Montana provide the icing on the cake that is Vocé. All of this combines into an uncompromising mix of great music.

The Fryday Band - GreenlightThe Fryday Band - Greenlight
$11.97

The Fryday Band is an acoustic rock band based in San Diego that is creating a groundswell of fan support and a growing nationwide reputation for their exciting original music.

With a rare combination of talent, unbridled energy and great fun, TFB creates music that connects with everyone who listens. The original lyrics touch its listeners on a personal level, and the music brings them to their feet. The band’s infectious spirit and energy keep everyone clamoring for more.

Like all bands, TFB has many musical influences. However, this fivesome has found a way to synthesize its influences without sounding like any other band. Make no mistake –– drawing on influences as divergent as Dire Straits, Bruce Hornsby, Moody Blues, and Martin Sexton –– The Fryday Band weaves a sonic tapestry that is completely its own.

Jamie Varley’s distinctive stage presence and vocals give life to the band’s lyrics, most of which he writes. Keyboardist Jeremy Miller provides the orchestration of the tunes. Brendan McCaskey’s unmistakable groove on bass guitar and Troy Harrell’s rock solid beats on the drums sets the rhythmic foundation and has proven to get people on their feet.
